How To Help

Greetings!

Our mission at the OCAO is to promote awareness and to educate folks about Ovarian Cancer. We participate in and/or host several awareness events throughout the year, so there are many ways you can help us in raising awareness and in educating women in our the battle against Ovarian Cancer. Please look at following committees to see what area and role best fit your preferences.

Outreach & Awareness Committee

The Outreach & Awareness Committee works to raise ovarian cancer awareness within the community. They also work to plan events to allow survivors and families to network and meet one another and to receive new and vital information about ovarian cancer research.

Education Committee

The Education Committee works to provide the public with information on ovarian cancer’s symptoms as well as what increases a woman’s risk of developing the disease. We attend Health Fairs, Sunny 95 Girls’ Nights Out and many other venues to meet and speak with women and their spouses/partners, families

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is charged with the ongoing accounting and record keeping of the OCAO’s funds. They work to ensure that money is utilized properly and meets both the IRS and 501(c)3 standards under which the OCAO was incorporated. They are the financial accountability and IRS contact for the OCAO.

5K Walk – Run Committee

The 5K Walk / Run Committee works to plan and conduct the annual Strides for Hope 5K walk / run. The 5K is not only an awareness event, but it is one of two major fundraising activities for the OCAO. Funds raised go directly back to support and implement the OCAO’s mission of promoting awareness and educating about Ovarian Cancer.

Marketing Committee

The Marketing Committee is responsible for all of the OCAO’s promotional, media and public relations related activities. They work to procure brand uniformity in all of our materials and brochures as well as to help implement the OCAO’s mission within the Community. We author a Teal Newsletter as well.

Once you’ve decided on a desired committee, please touch base with us and we’ll get you involved. In the meantime, we encourage you to explore our website – it’s brimming with beneficial information about Ovarian Cancer.  And if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
