My name is Darrell Anderson, I live in Parkersburg, West Virginia. I am an OSU alumnus, CPA, husband, father, and grandfather. I love the outdoors and in my spare time I enjoy hiking.
In 2016, my family received some terrible news. My sister-in-law Kim was diagnosed with stage 2C ovarian cancer. Unfortunately, we knew nothing about this horrible disease. Over the last few years, with the help of the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Ohio (OCAO), we have become more educated about the signs and symptoms. Now we strive to share that knowledge with our family, friends, co-workers and others that we meet along the way.
On November 9 I will arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal to begin my journey to the base camp of Mt. Everest! As an avid hiker this is a dream come true. As I climb this mountain, I will be wearing the OCAO logo and when I reach the base camp I will be planting an OCAO flag.
Please cheer me on by following my journey to spread the word about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. Please help me not only conquer the mountain but also raise $10,000 for the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Ohio. These funds will support them in educating and caring for those effected by this disease.
Thank you and let’s get climbing!
